Advantages of RCBO

  1. One device provides protection against both overcurrent (MCB) & earth leakage (RCD).

  2. Saves space on distribution boards.

  3. Isolates only the problematic circuit, which improves safety and reduces interruption.

Disadvantages of RCBO

  1. Higher per-unit cost than a standalone RCD and MCB.

  2. In some circumstances, defect detection is more sophisticated.

  3. Some models have a limited number of neutral disconnection types.
