Why nitrogen purging is requires in local panels located in hazardous areas?
Nitrogen is dry and non-combustible, and the nitrogen displacement of combustible gases will prevent an unstable and potentially ignitable atmosphere. Also reduces the moisture level and forces out the air. Normally panels are cooled by the blowing air. In some conditions like flammable areas like LPG, local control panels are cooled by an inert gas for arc quenching. Nitrogen is less cost and versatile available compared to other inert gas.
