Photocell works when some object comes in between transmitter and receiver light and detects it, while a proximity sensor detects when an object comes near the sensor that’s the difference. The resistance of a photo-resistor decreases with an increase in incident light intensity. the proximity sensor is a sensor that is able to detect the presence of nearby objects without any physical contact.
