What are the Types of Flow?

Types of Flow

1.Steady Flow

A flow is said to be steady when Pressure,Velocity,Temperature.Do not change with time at a point in the fluid.

2.Unsteady flow

A flow is said to be unsteady when temperature, pressure, velocity.Change with time at a point in the fluid.

3.Uniform Flow

Velocities of a particle passing through all the point is same. Area of cross section of the pipe must be uniform. No change in velocity with respect to distance.

4.Non-Uniform flow

Velocities of a particle is different at different points. Area of cross section of the pipe must not be uniform. 5.Laminar flow

Layers appear in the form of lamination. Hence laminar flow. Flow continues in the same direction.Fluid traces a definite path.Hence streamline flow. Viscosity is maximum and hence velocity of the fluid is minimum.Hence viscous flow.

6.Turbulent flow

Irregular path followed by a set of particles in a small time interval. Irregular path followed by a single particle over a longer interval time.
