Orifice meter consists of measuring equipment and static pressure recorders and differential pressure connected to the flange orifice or orifice fitting. Orifice meter tube (meter run) consisting of upstream and downstream pipe sections whose size and tolerance has been determined through calculations and meets ANSI / API 2530 specifications (GPA 8185).
The orifice plate is mounted perpendicular to the flange or fitting. Holes, circumference, edge sharpness and other tolerances must meet the ANSI / API 2530 specifications (GPA 8185).
Single Chamber Orifice Fitting:
The use of these fittings requires closing the flow and removing the pressure if you want to inspect or replace the orifice plate. But there is no need to stretch the flange. The way the bolts are drained and the lid of the plate is opened then the orifice plate and holder are taken. This type of fittings provides the right alignment.
Flange fitting:
On the flange tap, the tap hole positions are the upstream tap centerline installed 1 inch in front of the closest plate face and the downstream tap centre line is installed 1 inch behind the closest plate face.
If you use a slip-on or screwed type flange, the end of the pipe must be inserted into the flange until there is no free space larger than 1/4 "between the end of the pipe and the orifice plate. If used weld neck flange or orifice fittings are welds end the diameter of the average pipe that is connected to the inlet side of the fittings or flange with tolerance limits.
By using a flange orifice, the flow and discharge pressure must be closed if the orifice plate is to be inspected or replaced. Flange bolts are suspended and removed, the flange is stretched using the “jack” bolt and the aperture plate can be removed.
Senior Orifice Fitting:
The senior orifice is an orifice sensor with a plate that can be replaced, this sensor is placed on the part that will experience a change of flow (this type of fitting allows retrieval and inspection of orifice plates without closing the flow where the pipeline is still pressurized).
The change in flow is related to the magnitude of the difference in pressure to be measured if the flow is slow while the hole in the orifice is a large change in pressure. The orifice plate and holder are lifted into the upper room of the fitting using a “crank handle.” A valve is then closed to separate the upper room from the lower room from the fitting. The pressure in the upper room is then removed, the lid closes
