Saudi Aramco Instrumentation Interview Questions

1). What are the inspection points for cable tray installations?

Material check in accordance with permitted specifications, size and type, tray hook-up, correct distance structure, tray-to-tray i.e. power/control/ & signal/low voltage & high voltage, support & fixed firmly without shaking.

2). What are inspection sites for field equipment using impulse tubing?

Materials inspection in accordance with approved specifications for material, kind, and size.

Installation must follow the Hook-up procedure, including

  • Checking the line path for obstructions,
  • Checking tube bending and support,
  • Compression fittings or ferrules, and
  • Performing a pressure test.

3). What are the inspection points for cable laying?

Material inspection in accordance with approved materials, types, and sizes, meggering, cable routing drawings, completion of cable routes (tray, conduit, trench, etc.), cable numbering (Tag), cable bending, and the use of correct tools and equipment for cable pulling.

4). What are the inspection points for junction boxes and Marshalling cabinets?

Material inspection, kind, and size as per permitted specifications, installation hook up for frame, bracket, or stands, fixed properly indicates shaking-free, Name Plate and tag number.

5). What are the usual procedures or ferrules for connecting to & from a junction box?

For to side, only the terminal’s address is necessary, which must be close to the terminal on either side, and complete information must be from the side after or before the left and right sides.

6). What is the final RFI? When will it be hoisted up?

When the contractor’s QA/QC department is satisfied that the work indicated in the construction RFI has been completed, a request for inspection will be issued to the client’s QA/AC department.

7). What is Schedule Q?

Schedule Q is an attachment to the contract that includes the

  • Quality Assurance and Control,
  • Inspection, and
  • Testing Plan.

8). What is an ITP? What are Hold & Witness Points?

ITP stands for Inspection and Test Plan, which includes details about the task scope and the types of inspections necessary.

  • Hold Point (H) is the degree of inspection required by the client through the RFI and cannot be preceded until the client completes the inspection.
  • Witness Point (W) is the level of inspection at which inspection activity can proceed without client inspection or if the client is not accessible during the RFI Timing.

9). What is an RFI? When will an RFI be issued?

The Request for Inspection (RFI) shall be sent only when the preliminary inspection status is satisfactory and the works (items) are on Hold or Witness Point.

10). What is a Cable Tray?

A cable tray is a device that supports and protects cables put within a building or on an exterior pipe rack.

11). What are the terms calibration and process calibration?

Calibration is the process of checking and testing the equipment’s accuracy and serviceability.

Process calibration entails carrying out calibration activities in accordance with the selected authorized method linked to standardization.

12). What is the loop, and how is the loop folder created?

A loop is an electromechanical representation of a circuit that includes the flow of liquid or gas, an alarm system, control valve functioning, and other specifics that require field installation instrumentation. The loop check must be completed under specified conditions and constraints.

The list of attachments, which includes the

  • Drawing,
  • Check list,
  • Punch list, and other listed documents,

is organized in folders (loop-wise) for convenient access throughout the loop check & final handover of the project.

The folder containing all possible papers is known as the loop folder.

13). What is the standard, and what is standardization?

A standard is an authenticated documented command to be followed during the execution of a certain project for which it was created.

Standardization refers to the way of carrying out a specific standard that is unique to one or more associated activities in a project’s execution process.

14). What is Inspection?

Inspection is the process of confirming the method application by following specific recorded and authenticated instructions, also known as standardization.

15). what are the responsibilities of a QC Inspector?

The following are the phenomenal tasks that any QC Inspector is expected to carry out while doing an inspection.

  • Familiar with the technology used for the inspection.
  • Possess the reasoning skills to analyses the procedure.
  • Should have a solid understanding of the inspection procedure, i.e. established standards.
  • Must be able to report any anomalies discovered to the appropriate authorities.
