PURPOSE OF A VOLTAGE FOLLOWER

                           **VOLTAGE FOLLOWER**

Voltage follower is a circuit which has a voltage gain of 1, it is also called as a unity gain and buffer amplifier it is mainly used to isolate stages from each other it usually has high input impedance and low output impedance there is a reason that it is known as the voltage follower it is because the output voltage follows the input voltage, so output voltage is same as the input and it has got very high input impedance and that’s the main reason to use it. A voltage follower has high input resistance and low output resistance and because of the high input resistance, most of the input voltage gets transferred to the output side. In this the output voltage follows the input voltage and by that the output voltage is equivalent to the input voltage and this circuit does not provide any amplification it provides efficient isolation of output from the input voltage and when the resistance increases the current drawn from the power source decreases, voltage followers are used for the construction of buffers in logic circuits, it is also known as the buffer amplifier which connects high impedance circuit to low impedance circuit

PURPOSE OF A VOLTAGE FOLLOWER

Voltage followers are used because of its high input impedance if a circuit has high input impedance then it will draw very little current and if the resistance is high then the current drawn from the power source is low and the power of the circuit won’t be affected when the current feeds high impedance load

In the first circuit because of its low impedance and because of the low resistance it draws a lot of currents which cause a huge amount of power will be drawn from the power source In the second circuit it draws only less current because of the high impedance and there is no feedback resistor in the circuit and because of that the output is the same that is fed in and this is the main purpose of using the voltage follower because it uses little current and it will give the same voltage signal as output

APPLICATIONS OF VOLTAGE FOLLOWER

• Input Impedance is high and very low output impedance • It can isolate stages from each other • It is also called as a voltage buffer • It doesn’t draw a lot of currents • It won’t load down the power source

What is the use of a voltage follower?

A voltage follower can function as a buffer since it consumes minimal power due to the amplifier’s high input impedance, reducing loading effects while keeping the same voltage at the output.
