PCC Panel (Power Control Center) Vs. MCC Panel (Motor Control Center)

PCC Panel (Power Control Center)

The heart of main power distribution in any plant or facility.

Function: Receives incoming main supply directly from the transformer or DG set and distributes high power through feeders to various sub-panels (including MCCs).

Key Components: Main Air Circuit Breakers (ACB), Busbar systems, Protection Relays, and Energy Meters.

Core Role: Power Distribution & Feeder Management.

MCC Panel (Motor Control Center)

The nerve center for industrial motor operation.

Function: Receives power from the PCC panel to control, run, and protect industrial electric motors.

Key Components: Contactors, Overload Relays, Motor Protection Circuit Breakers (MPCB), and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).

Core Role: Motor Control (Start, Stop, Speed Regulation & Protection).

  • PCC = Distributes Power
  • MCC = Operates Motors

Seperate panels ensure higher reliability, safe fault isolation, easier maintenance, and better plant safety.
