But some special considerations are there

  1. The arcing is different than AC current and the quenching system in arc chutes do not quench effectively. So the contacts are DERATED for DC current

  2. Positive and Negative both should be avoided in the same contactor due to long and sustained arc which will reduce the life of contacts and may flash over

  3. Better to use Magnetic arc quenching with single pole contactors which contain a magnetic arc quenching arrangement
