Can we use AC fuse in DC circuit
.Ac arcs are self-extinguishing since they naturally have 0 potential difference 2x each cycle and the magnetic fields around the circuits also collapse each time this happens. Dc remains at the same potential and so the magnetic fields induced by current flow will resist changes(in this case decreases) in current flow until those fields collapse. So as long as there is enough energy available to overcome the air gap resistance the current will continue to flow through the arc
If an ac fuse is also rated for dc, then it means it has been designed to deal with this difference up to the dc rated voltage and current.
