How to do the startup and set parameters for ABBACS 550

The drive troubleshooting or installation must be done by qualified personnel.

DRIVE STARTUP

Before setting the parameters we must verify the wiring, after checking the wiring power up the drive to set the parameters. After powering the drive check the left side of the display and we can see REM which is used to do the drive control, REM stands for remote operation by this we can control the drive by using the field devices and it could be speed pots or start-stop switch. These field devices can be connected to the drive with the help of a terminal strip in the drive. We can also see the LOC in the control panel and it stands for local operation, by this the drive, can control the start, stop operation. The LOC operation can be done by pushing the LOC button in the keypad and by doing so we can see LOC in the display.

In the display, we can see an arrow near to the LOC and this arrow shows the direction of motor rotation, if the drive is in the run mode then the arrow will rotate, the direction can be changed by pushing the top left button. In the upper right of the display, we can see the speed command and it is in hertz. This will be the motor speed while the driver controls are in the local mode.

Below the display, we can see two keys and their functions can see above them and their functions will change according to different operations. By using the arrow key we can select the menu or we can change the value of the parameter. The question mark button is the help button and by pushing it we could get details about what is shown in the display. We can see the start and stop button in the above image and it is used to start the drive in local operation mode. In the display, we can see the three-row of values and it shows the speed of the motor in Hz, then the current drawn by the motor which is in amps, and it also shows the amount of torque that is produced by the motor and it is in percentage.

PARAMETER SETTING

Click the right button in the control panel then we can see the word “parameters” if not, use the up and down arrow to see it in the display, after that select the parameter, then we can see the parameter number and parameter details.

Select the 99th parameter which is “start-up data” select this parameter, after that, we need to enter the motor data in order to do so select the 9905 motor nominal voltage. After that click, the edit button then enter the motor voltage that is shown in the nameplate by using the arrow buttons we can edit the voltage value, after that push the save button.

Then we must select the parameter 9906 which is a motor nominal current and do the same step that we have done to set the voltage of the motor and edit the amps value to that of the motor nameplate. Then select the parameter 9907 and enter the motor frequency after that press save. Then select the parameter 9908 and enter the motor speed and save it. Then go to the parameter 9909 and enter the motor power then save it. After that press the exit button more than once to go back to the main screen. So we entered all the motor data now we can run the motor before doing that we must check if it is safe to do so. The Hz value in the upper right corner must be zero, if the value is not zero use the up and down arrow to make it zero. After that click the start button, so by doing so the upper left arrow must rotate after that rotation shows that the drive is in the RUN mode.

Press and hold the up arrow then the speed command on the upper right corner will increase and the motor will start to rotate, after that we can release the up arrow when the motor reaches the desired speed. So while looking at the display we can see how much current that the motor draws and also the torque that the motor produces. We can also change the direction of the motor if we need it.
