What is the difference between kilowatts and kilo-volts
Kilo-volt is rated for the potential voltage of the electrical system whereas kW is rated for the electrical Power of electrical equipment/ system. Potential difference is measured in Volts, 1000 Volts = 1 kilovolt. Power is a product of voltage and current measured in Watts. This can be Apparent power or Actual power/True power.
One is voltage, the other is power.
Kilo means 1000
Kilovolt = 1000volt
Kilowatt =1000watt
1kv in 3 ph =√3 x V (ph) x Current(3 ph)
1 kw in 3ph= √3 x V (ph) x Current(ph) x power factor
