What is Kilowatt (kW)?

A kilowatt is a unit of power that measures the rate at which energy is consumed or generated.

It calculates the real work performed or energy converted each second.

A kilowatt is equal to 1,000 watts and is often used to measure the power output of machinery, motors, appliances & electrical systems.

Ex: 2 kW heater uses 2 kilojoules of energy each second.

What is Ampere (A)?

An ampere, or “amp,” is a unit of electric current. It measures the movement of an electric charge (electrons) across a conductor. One ampere represents one coulomb of charge flowing per second in a circuit.

Amps show the current carrying capacity of cables, breakers & devices ensuring that they operate safely and without overheating.

Commonly used to rate motors, heaters, and appliances. Commonly used to size cables, breakers, and protection devices.
Expressed in units of watts or kilowatts. Expressed in units of amperes (A).
