What is the difference between Voltage transformer and capacitive voltage transformer

How is a Voltage transformer different from capacitive voltage transformer

CVT capacitive voltage transformer, voltage step down by capacitive action, VT voltage transformer voltage steps down by coil. VT is normally for measuring and protection purposes… whereas CVT is used were receiving end of a substation to regulate the voltage increased due to Ferranti effect… also this CVT is connected series with shunt reactor to compensate reactive power generated by shunt capacitance of transmission line
