## DC-DC Buck Converter

A DC-DC Buck Converter is a step-down power electronic converter that converts a higher DC input voltage into a lower DC output voltage efficiently.

It uses a semiconductor switch (MOSFET), **[diode](https://forumelectrical.com/explain-diode-and-its-types/)** or synchronous switch, inductor, and capacitor to regulate the output voltage.

By controlling the switch duty cycle using **[Pulse Width Modulation (PWM),](https://forumelectrical.com/variable-frequency-drive-vfd-control-and-wiring/)** the converter maintains the required output voltage.
